Challenges and needs must be addressed by adopting a unified and integrated vision. On one hand, there is the need to look towards the future and with a broad view, by projecting the own choices on scenarios and challenges in a wider way. In this way, it is possible to realize a new digital transformation path, more consistent and resilient. On the other hand, is necessary to develop the insights and goals of strategic and prospective type, into concrete and better actions for the own operational reality. In this way, the latter becomes an active part of a system of change.

Circular Food System

Modify the food system adopting it to the Sustainable Circular Economy’s standards is one of the choices with major impact to contrast the climate change and to support the restoration of biodiversity. At the same time, acting these standards can be a way to guarantee access to an enough quantity of food and to a healthy lifestyle to the widest possible audience.

The actual food system has supported the exponential growth of the global population; however, it has become unaffordable for the society and for the environment to support such a system. Indeed, the agriculture is among the main sources of ground gas emissions and pollution. Moreover, the consumeristic model adopted by the urban areas implies huge amounts of food waste.

The Sustainable Circular Economy’s purpose is the one of revert the route of the actual linear model. The latter is based on the ‘make-use-dispose’ principle but shifting towards a new direction, the one of ‘make-use-reuse’. This last mentioned follows regeneration and reutilization logics (cradle to cradle) with the scope to reduce or delete completely the production of waste.

The recycle of nutrients and waste enables the reductio of Greenhouse Gases emissions and the exploitation of soil and water.
Such a change requires new approaches and investments, in terms of time and funds, since it is about changes that involve all our system.
Choosing the Sustainable Circular Economy’s principles means to support the agricultural systems that today risk to go in distress and, in a near future, would arrive to have huge negative impacts on the human population.
